UPDATE: SDFD reports that they have knocked down the fire.

 

Fire crews are responding to a brush fire in West end of the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve off Sorrento Valley Boulevard. The fire broke out shortly before 1 p.m. It’s in general area that burned a few months ago.

UPDATE: At least one person is in the vehicle and deceased. 

 

San Diego Lifeguards are responding to a vehicle that somehow ended up off on the cliffs at the Gliderport in Torrey Pines. Right now there’s no word if anyone is trapped in the vehicle.

Family, friends, and authorities will continue their search today for Sheila Ann Lopes. She was last seen Wednesday night by her family in Escondido. The 73-year-old Alzheimers patient has walked away from her home before, but she’s always been located. Here’s a photo and more information.

The SDPD reports that Lourdes Lareza Gonzales was located on Saturday in National City. The 83-year-old woman was reported missing on Friday night, there were concerns that she was at risk because of her age.

8:46 am - August 30, 2008NWS Warns of Flooding

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the area east of Julian. According to the NWS, doppler radar has shown more than an inch of rain in the area. A dispatcher for the US Forest Service says he has received reports of rain in Alpine and near the Pine Valley Bridge.

2:07 pm - August 29, 2008West Nile Case Reported In Oceanside

A 20-year-old man is the latest person to be diagnosed with the West Nile virus in the county.
The man was hospitalized with meningitis and is recovering at home, according to Health and Human Services.
This is the 10th human case of the virus reported in the county this year.

12:12 pm - August 29, 2008Shooting Reported In Pala

UPDATE: The Sheriff’s Department says one person has been killed and more than one person detained at the scene.  They aren’t saying if that person is the shooter.

Sheriff’s depuities are at the scene of a shooting in Pala. According to the Sheriff’s Department one woman has been shot; her condition is unknown. The shooting happened near SR-76 and Lilac Rd.

8:53 am - August 29, 2008Motorist Crashes Through A T & T Store

There is shattered glass and plaster at a Chula Vista A T & T store after a woman drove a sedan through the front of the store.  The woman was not hurt and there was no one inside the building located at 878 Eastlake Parkway.  The woman may have hit the gas instead of the brake according to Chula Vista Police who are still on scene. There is heavy damage inside the cell phone store.  Work crews have arrived to begin repair and clean-up at the store in the Village Walk Mall.  The Mercedes Benz is fifty feet inside the store.

1:18 pm - August 28, 200816 Injured In Walkway Collapse

*Update* — San Diego Fire says 16 people have been injured, three of them critically.

Emergency crews are responding to Imperial Avenue, near 16th St., in the East Village where a covered walkway has collapsed injuring at least 14 people. Two of them have serious injuries.
