A traffic accident involving several cars as well as a car on its side are blocking lanes on the northbound I-5 near Pershing Drive at this hour. No word on the extent of injuries to any of the occupants

Sheriff’s deputies are responding to a shooting near the intersection of Avocado Blvd. and Fuerte Dr. in unincorporated East County east of Mount Helix.
We have Sky10 in the air and a crew heading htere on the ground.

6:07 pm - March 25, 2009Bees Swarm Near Helix High School

UPDATE -  Four people were stung near a home on Normal Street, including a 79-year-old man who was stung more than than 30 times.   Nobody at Helix High School was stung.

4:56 P.M. - Emergency crews are now focusing their attention on a home near the school where bees have been seeing flying in and out of.

10News reporter Michael Chen is on the scene right now and will have an live update on 10News at 5:00.

4:36 P.M. – Multiple ambulances are on the way to Helix High School in La Mesa after people reported numerous bee stings, according to a dispatcher for Heartland Fire.
Sky 10 is above the school now. We’re seeing a couple fire trucks in the parking lot. We have another crew on the way going on the ground.

5:23 pm - March 25, 2009Rancho San Diego House On Fire

UPDATE –  Crews have knocked down the fire, according to a Heartland Fire dispatcher.  People in the area reported hearing loud booms or explosions during the fire but those came from the Sheriff’s bomb disposal yard which is nearby.

4:26 P.M. – Fire crews are currently working a residential fire Rancho San Diego. The call came in minutes ago for a blaze on the 1900 block of Elva.

2:27 pm - March 25, 2009Crews Battle House Fire In Bonita

Fire crews are working to extinguish a house fire in Bonita at this hour.
The fire broke out around 1:45 in the 5700 block of Casa Grande Way. That’s southwest of the merge of Highway 54 and State Route 125.
No word on what may have caused the fire.

6:02 am - March 25, 2009Thieves Steal An ATM From A Del Cerro Store

Police are on the hunt for three men who stole an atm from a liquor store in Del Cerro. It happened at the Del Cerro liquor store on College Avenue at around 4:45 this morning. Police say the men broke the window of the store, tied a rope around the machine and took it away in a large chevy van, possibly a late 80s model. The van was last seen headed towards I-8. No word how much money was in the machine.

5:59 am - March 25, 2009Sig Alert Issued for I-15 at Poway Road

The Highway Patrol has just issued a sig alert at the Northbound I-15 at Poway Road where someone was hit and killed by a driver. The accident was reported just after 5a.m. The CHP says the driver pulled over because he thought he hit something. That’s when he found the dead man lying in the left 2 lanes. The driver then began directing traffic to keep others from hitting the dead man. A crew is headed to the scene. Stay with 10news for more on this and other breaking news.

12:45 am - March 22, 2009Water Pressure Problems Reported In Torrey Hills

UPDATE: The water pressure problem indicates the cause is a water main break , Arian Collins with the water department said.  The exact location has not been found, he said.

Water Department crews are in the Torrey Hills area investigating  complaints of no water pressure.  Arian Collins, with the San Diego Water department said an emergency crew has not yet determined if the problem is caused by a water main break or a pump station problem. We are monitoring the situation and will have more information as it becomes available.

Homicide detectives from the SDPD are currently at a home on the 6400 block of Lockford Avenue in the Paradise Hills neighborhood. Details are still thin; we have a crew at the scene right now. They’ll have a live report on 10News at Midday – that starts at 11:00 a.m.

3:51 pm - March 19, 2009School Gun Scare In East County

Crest Elemntary School in El Cajon was briefly locked down this afternoon, according to the school. The Sheriff’s department received a report of a shooting at or near the school but have been unable to confim it, according to a watch commander for the department.
